| About the Apartments |
Riomaggiore, Cinque Terre:
- Year of construction: Circa 1680. Date of last renovation: 2005.
- House Location: In the historic village center adjacent to the main church; a five minute walk to teh sea and marina, train station, restaurants, shops and the local hiking trails that connect each of the villages, including the romantic "Via del Amore".
- Suitability: A minimum 3 night stay is required. Weekly and monthly renters are welcome. Small pets are allowed with prior arrangement. (An additional fee of 30.00 euro will be charged.) Smokers are unwelcome.
- Local activities: Walking/hiking, cycling, mountain biking, diving/snorkeling, fishing, sailing, swimming, horseback riding, boating, local cuisine, vineyards, and relaxation.
- Coastal Access: Seasonal ferry service is available in the small marina of Riomaggiore. Portofino and Camogli are easily accessible to the north as are Porto Venere, the Palmaria and Tino islands, La Spezia, and Lerici in the Gulf of Poets to the south. Boat rentals are also available. There is no better way than by sea to experience one of the best preserved and protected natural areas on the Italian Mediterranean.
- Riomaggiore is located on the main north-south train line that runs along the western coast of Italy. Local trains make almost every local seaside town easily accessible. From the main train station in La Spezia, ten minutes to the south on local trains, one can easily use more rapid train service to Genova and Milan to the north, or Tuscany, (including the Lunigiana, Pisa, Lucca, Florence), and Rome to the south. Using train service, day trips are easy.
San Terenzo , Gulf of Poets:
- Year of construction: Circa 1820.
- Location: In the historic center of San Terenzo, two minute walking distance to the sandy beach, shops and restaurants, the marina and medieval castle of San Terenzo, and a fifteen minute level walk along the shore to Lerici, and forty five minutes from Tellaro. There are several sandy public beach areas along this stretch of coast.
- Suitability: A minimum 3 night stay required. Weekly and monthly renters welcome. Small pets are allowed with prior arrangement (30.00 euro fee.) Smokers are unwelcome.
- Local activities: Walking/hiking, cycling, mountain biking, diving/snorkeling, fishing, sailing, swimming, horseback riding, boating, local cuisine, and relaxation. A golf club and tennis club is a ten minute walk from the apartment.
- Coastal Access: Seasonal ferry service is available in the small marina in San Terenzo and also in Lerici. La Spezia, the Palmaria islands, Porto Venere, the Cinque Terre, and Portofino are easily accessible to the north. Boat rentals are also available. - Hilltowns: There are several charming local hilltowns very close to San Terenzo. These include Trebbiano, Arcola, Ameglia, Montemarcello, and La Serra. Several hilltowns can be reached by walking. Also recommended is the Roman archeological excavations of Luni, which include the remains of an amphiteatre.
- San Terenzo does not have a train station, but it is located in close proximity to the main north-south train line that runs along the western coast of Italy.
